This Privacy Policy describes how WAMADAT Z LLC, doing business as Wamadat ("Wamadat," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information in connection with Noor. Noor is developed and operated by Wamadat, a trade name of WAMADAT Z LLC.
In short: Noor has no user accounts, no analytics and no advertising SDKs, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers. Your reading progress and personal religious activity stay on your device. A few optional features contact third parties in order to work, and send only what that feature needs.
What stays on your device
All of your worship and reading data is stored locally, on your device only:
- Reading position, khatma progress, daily wird and reading-consistency history
- Bookmarks, saved verses and reflection notes
- Memorisation plans, review history and practice results
- App settings — theme, language, reciter, reminder time
We operate no server that receives this data. Uninstalling Noor removes it from your device, and you can also clear it in the app under Settings (reset progress, statistics or saved items).
Operating-system backups
Your device's own backup service may keep a copy of this data outside the app, under your Google or Apple account and their terms — not ours. On Android, Noor includes your reading progress, bookmarks, notes and settings in backup and device transfer so they survive a new phone. Noor deliberately excludes your saved prayer coordinates, city, cached prayer times and cached weather from cloud backup; those are carried only in a direct device-to-device transfer. To remove an existing copy, use your device's backup settings.
Features that contact third parties
Some features need to contact third parties in order to function. We do not receive or store the results; the data goes only to the service providing that feature.
- Prayer times and Qibla — calculated on your device from your location. Your location is not transmitted to us for this.
- Weather — your approximate coordinates are sent to a third-party weather provider (open-meteo.com) to return local conditions.
- Quran recitation audio — streamed from a third-party audio provider when you play recitations. You can pre-download recitations for offline use in Settings.
- Ask Noor (optional) — your question, recent conversation context, the selected Quran passage and relevant bundled source excerpts are sent over HTTPS to Noor's server-side proxy, which forwards them to AI service providers (currently Groq, with Google Gemini as a fallback) to generate a reply. The proxy processes the request transiently and is configured not to log message bodies. There is no chat account and no server-side conversation history; your conversation stays in app memory while the chat is open. Please do not enter sensitive personal information.
- Report a problem (optional) — opens your chosen email app with a draft addressed to contact@omniat.net. The draft includes app version, operating-system version, device model and selected app language. It does not automatically include chat history, notes, location, reading progress or worship activity. Nothing is sent until you choose to send the email.
- Nearby mosques and halal places — Android sends approximate coordinates and a search category to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, and can then open your maps app for directions. iOS uses Apple MapKit search. Noor does not build a remote location profile.
Location
Location is used for prayer times, Qibla direction, a city label and to build "nearby" search queries. Precise or approximate location is processed on-device for prayer times and Qibla, and is only sent off-device to the weather and nearby-search providers as described above. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in system settings; the affected features degrade gracefully.
Microphone
The microphone is used only for the optional recitation-practice feature, to compare what you recite against the verse. Speech recognition is performed by your device's own system speech service. Depending on your device, the recogniser and its settings, that system service may process audio on the device or in the cloud under its provider's terms. Noor itself does not record, store or upload your audio. Microphone access is requested only when you start a practice session.
Notifications and alarms
Used for the daily reading reminder, the Friday Surah Al-Kahf reminder and prayer-time notifications. These are scheduled locally on your device.
Children
Noor is intended for users aged 13 and older. Its family-learning section may be used by a parent or guardian together with a child, but Noor is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Parents should supervise microphone and Ask Noor use.
Data retention and deletion
Reading, worship, notes and preference data live on your device. Uninstalling the app, or using the in-app reset options, removes that local data. A copy may still exist in your operating system's backup as described above; remove it through your device's backup settings. Noor's proxy is designed not to log or store Ask Noor conversation content, but AI, weather, map, audio and system speech providers may process or retain request data under their own terms and security policies.
Security
All network requests the app controls use HTTPS. AI provider credentials are held only on Noor's server-side proxy and are never included in the app. We take reasonable precautions to protect the data processed on your device, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top of this page will change accordingly, and we encourage you to review it periodically.
